Garlic Bubble Ring

From: An old index card

Ingredients:
1 lb frozen bread dough, thawed
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried parsley

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9" Bundt cake pan. Pull off pieces of thawed bread dough; form into balls. Combine butter and egg in a small mixing bowl; mix in cheese, garlic powder, salt and parsley. Dip dough balls into mix and layer in the prepared pan. Cover; let rise until doubled in volume, about 45 minutes. Bake until golden brown, about 35 minutes.

Verdict:
Oh. My. Gosh. Biggest thumbs up EVER. I used Rhodes rolls instead of a frozen bread loaf. I loved this because it was already in the balls. All I had to do was let it thaw, dip each ball into the mixture, and then I used a circle cake pan instead of a cake pan. Cooking time for me was only about 20 minutes though.

When they came out of the oven they were dripping in butter and garlic, just the way we like them! As they sat out, the bottoms got a little crisper and they had this awesome butter/garlic caramelization on the bottoms. Tremendous. We ate the entire pan in no time. I would eat this for every meal if I could. Seriously. Highly recommend this recipe!

Olive Garden Breadsticks

From: Here

Ingredients:
Dough:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp yeast
1 Tbsp salt
2 Tbsp butter, softened
4-5 cups flour

Topping:
3 Tbsp butter, melted
sea salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder

For the dough, pour the water into a stand mixer with the sugar and yeast, let that sit and froth for about 10 minutes. Add salt, butter, and 2 cups of flour. Mix the dough on low. Add the rest of the flour a half cup at a time, until dough scrapes the sides of the bowl clean. Mix the dough about 5 minutes on medium speed, until it's soft and easy to work with. Roll the dough out into a long log, spray a knife with cooking spray and cut the dough into 12-14 pieces. Roll those pieces into about 6 inch long snakes. Spray 2 large cookie sheets with cooking spray, and lay the breadsticks out leaving about 2 inches between each one. Place them in the oven with the temperature turned to 170 degrees. Let them rise for about 15 minutes, or until doubled in size.( I have also let them sit at room temp until they are doubled in size and then bake them in the oven) Once risen, brush them with the 1 1/2 T of melted butter and sprinkle them with salt. Now preheat the oven to 400 degrees and bake them for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. While they are baking combine the rest of the melted butter with 1/4 t garlic powder. When the breadsticks are golden brown, remove them from the oven and brush them with the butter/garlic mixture.

What I did differently from the recipe:
Nothing.

What I'll do differently next time:
???

Verdict:
Well, neutral, I think. Obviously mine don't even start to compare to the picture on the blog I got this recipe from. But the taste was good. They didn't taste like Olive Garden breadsticks, but still good. I think I am going to try this recipe again and see if I can perfect it. I would still recommend trying this recipe because they were good - I just had really high expectations!!

French Bread

From: My bread machine manual

Ingredients:
9 1/2 oz water (1 cup + 3 Tbsp), 80 degrees
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp butter, cut into 4 pieces
2 tsp active dry yeast OR 1 1/2 tsp fast rise yeast
1 egg white, slightly beaten (optional)
1 tsp water (optional)
poppy or sesame seeds (optional)

Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer (usually liquid first, then dry ingredients, then butter around the sides, and yeast in a well in the middle). Cook on your bread machine's dough cycle. When it's done, pull it out and let it rest on a floured surface for 15 minutes.

Roll dough into a 15x12-inch rectangle. Roll up tightly from long side, seal and taper ends. Place seam side down on greased baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place for 45-55 minutes or until nearly double in size. With a sharp knife, make 3 or 4 1/4-inch deep diagonal cuts on top of loaf. Combine egg white with water and brush mixture on top of loaf (or you can use melted butter). Sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds if desired.

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before slicing.

What I did differently from the recipe:
I used butter instead of the egg white and water mixture. I baked it for about 20 minutes, then took it out of the oven and added cheese-garlic spread on top. I also then sliced at the diagonal slices deeper than 1/4-inch and put the spread inside the bread as well. I then baked it about 5-7 more minutes to finish it.

What I'll do differently next time:
I would put more of the cheese spread in between slices of the bread. I only did a few slices like that this time because we had never tried that recipe and didn't know how it would turn out, but we loved it.

Verdict:
Absolutely amazing thumbs up. This was SUCH an easy recipe - time consuming, but easy enough. The crust was crispy, the inside was soft, the cheese-garlic spread added an incredible flavor... I can't say enough about this bread. We will DEFINITELY be making this again in the future!

Cheesy Garlic Rolls

Ingredients:
2 cups buttermilk baking mix (like Bisquick)
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded cheese (I use cheddar)
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Combine Bisquick, milk and cheese until soft dough forms. Beat vigorously for 30 seconds. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 450 for 8-10 minutes. Combine butter and garlic. Brush on biscuits before removing from sheet.

What I did differently from recipe:
Nothing.

What I'll do differently next time:
Nothing.

Verdict:
Neutral. I used to make these all the time when we were first married and we loved them, but now they just taste kind of flat after using a bread machine. Don't get me wrong, the flavor is GREAT! But obviously, it's a quick bread - they don't rise or anything, so they're not fluffy. But if you cook them just right, they will still be soft. So if you need bread in an emergency for dinner, I would recommend these.

Verdict:

Thumbs up!! Another hit with the bread machine! I made this one night when my sister and family came over for pizza, so no pictures were taken. I put in 2 tsp of garlic powder and it was perfect for me, but I do love my garlic. This is such a tasty bread for Italian night!!
